Gianna turned 2 years and her mommy really had her heart set on the Palace of Fine Arts in San Francisco, for the main location of the shoot, then we’d plan to head to Baker Beach to capture a few shots with the Golden Gate in the background. The weather in San Francisco was really nice this day, but a little chilly, so as the day grew, the cold factor increased. We were all a little cool at this point, but the most uncomfortable part was going to Baker Beach and trying to photograph in freezing cold weather! Yikes!
The poor kids were just miserable with the wind beating on them. You’d never know it was that cold while we were at the Palace because we were shaded some by the structures there, which blocked the wind and the sun was out a little more, but as the sun began to set and we headed to the beach, the temp dropped drastically. And I literally shot maybe 5 pictures at the beach before we all threw our hands in and said this isn’t going to work, but wouldn’t you know that the very first picture I shot was THE only one at the beach that actually came out and it looks really good for how much everyone was shivering, haha!
The city can be hit or miss with weather, so it’s the chance we all take. I have to say that I’ve had really good luck with my SF sessions though. And I’m so glad we photographed lots of cute family groupings and such at the Palace first because the lighting and weather was quite a bit more bearable at that point, lol. Gianna was such a trooper thru it all and so was Evan. Great job kiddos!!!
